The engine of the Toyota Land Cruiser is a 4-cylinder turbodiesel (Euro 6) of 2.755 cm3 with common rail direct injection, four valves per cylinder, variable intake, variable geometry turbocharger, intercooler and chain distribution, which delivers a maximum power of 204 hp (150 kW) at 3.400 rpm. With the 8-speed automatic transmission, maximum torque reaches 500 Nm between 1.600 and 2.800 rpm.
It has a system of Four-wheel drive connectable with self-locking center differential and reducing, active traction control (A-TRC) and trailer sway control (TSC), and a locking rear differential. It's the first Land Cruiser with electric steering.
In addition, the Toyota Land Cruiser's diesel engine is compatible with the biodiesel HVO100, a fuel that comes from 100% renewable sources and its composition is mainly based on vegetable oil (hydrotreated vegetable oil) and is obtained reduce CO2 emissions by up to 90% compared to conventional diesel.
Cabin
