The Citroën ë-Jumper is no longer a large electric van forced to live around the city. With a 110 kWh battery, 270 hp and a homologated range that reaches 409 km in the current Spanish configurations, it can handle regional delivery, assistance, technical services and intercity routes that previously required too many compromises.
The electrical transformation preserves what matters most in a Jumper: a wide, tall, and practically rectangular box. The available vans offer 13, 15 or 17 m³, between 3.705 and 4.070 mm of usable length, 1.870 mm of maximum width and 1.422 mm between wheel arches. The battery is housed under the floor and does not invade the volume, so the shelving, the coverings and a good part of the conversions start from the same industrial dimensions as in the diesel version.

But electrifying a large van shifts the problem from volume to mass. In the 3.500 kg MMA versions, the approved payload without driver is between 635 and 710 kg; in the 4.250 kg versions it rises to 1.385-1.435 kg. That difference is too big to be treated as a footnote: it decides whether the ë-Jumper will be a real cargo tool or a huge box that reaches its weight limit before it fills up.
It's also worth clarifying the range figures. Citroën advertises up to 424-430 km, but the Spanish technical specifications from June 2026 state 356-409 km WLTP for the vans currently listed, depending on height, length, maximum authorized mass (MMA), and speed limit. The highest figure is obtained in a 4,25 tonne version limited to 90 km/h; the L3H2 of 3,5 tonnes and 130 km/h homologates 378 km.
Recharging helps prevent the large battery from turning every night into a wait. The 22 kW three-phase charger is standard and allows the battery to be fully charged in about six hours; in direct current it supports up to 150 kW and Citroën states 55 minutes from 0 to 80%. It's not a brief stop on the level of the best recent rivals, but it is a viable architecture for a company that loads at the base and uses the fast network as a backup, not as a daily routine.
The front motor delivers 200 kW in the homologation sheet - the commercial website states 205 kW -, equivalent in both cases to 270 hp, and 400 Nm from the start. It's not about sportiness: it's about authoritatively moving almost three tons of vehicle before loading. Eco, Normal, and Power modes regulate the available power, while the paddles allow you to choose four levels of regeneration to adapt the regeneration to city, highway, or downhill driving.
The current Spanish electric range is shorter than the combustion-engine Jumper family. It starts with the L3, offers L3H2, L3H3, and L4H3 vans, and adds L3/L4 chassis cabs and a parcel box. There is no compact ë-Jumper L2 in the current table, and it is not advisable to extrapolate to the electric version all the bodywork, payloads or equipment announced for the Jumper as a whole.
Therefore, buying it correctly requires starting with the route and ending with the specifications of the specific unit. Daily kilometers, sustained speed, actual weight, bodywork, contracted power, stop time and legal possibility of working at 4,25 tons matter more here than the access price or the maximum autonomy of the owner.

Extended Technical Specifications of the Citroën ë-Jumper
The extended data sheet separates the bodywork from the homologation because in the ë-Jumper two externally identical units can offer almost 750 kg of payload difference. The jump from 3.500 to 4.250 kg does not increase the box or the battery: it increases the legal mass available for work.

The relationship between consumption and autonomy reveals something important: The 4,25-ton versions are homologated for greater range not because they weigh less, but because they are limited to 90 km/h. Its WLTP should not be compared to that of a 3,5 t without incorporating that difference in maximum speed into the actual mission.

In Spain, a Category B driving license held for more than two years can, under specific conditions, allow the driving of goods vehicles with alternative fuels weighing more than 3.500 kg and up to 4.250 kg. The excess mass must come exclusively from the propulsion system compared to the conventional equivalent; it cannot increase the load capacity compared to that equivalent, and the provision does not automatically cover towing or international traffic. The company must validate the exact case with the technical data sheet, the driver's license, their insurance company and the framework of the countries through which it will be driven.
Electric motor, battery and recharging
The new drivetrain changes the personality of the ë-Jumper more than any cabin tweaking. The 200 kW and 400 Nm engine multiplies the response reserve of the previous generation and allows the loaded van to be moved without constantly resorting to Power mode.
Citroën distributes power across three programs. Eco limits maximum demand to 120 kW and includes climate control and responsiveness; Normal allows 160 kW and covers almost the entire day; Power unleashes the full 200 kW for inclines, merging, or heavy loads. The smart choice is not to always drive in Eco mode, but to conserve energy without turning the vehicle into a slow or unpredictable tool.

The paddles don't change gears: they control four levels of regenerative braking. In the city, a high level reduces the use of the brake pedal and returns energy to the battery; on the highway, a low level helps the car coast. Maximum energy recovery is not always maximum efficiency: every unnecessary braking converts motion into electricity and then loses some of it again when accelerating.

The infrastructure is part of the van
A 110 kWh e-Jumper only makes sense if the company designs the charging with the same care as the route. A 22 kW three-phase point can return all the energy for a short night; a 7,4 kW installation would need approximately three times as long and could leave the vehicle without any margin after a late arrival.
Before installing chargers, it is necessary to check available power, simultaneous charging of vehicles, dynamic management, electrical protection, schedules and tariff. In a fleet, distributing power intelligently is usually more cost-effective than installing a maximum charger for each seat.
Fast charging should be budgeted as operational insurance. A 0-80% charge session theoretically adds about 88 kWh before losses; its cost depends on the operator's tariff and can approach or exceed the cost per kilometer of an efficient diesel vehicle. The economic advantage appears when most of the energy is purchased on a baseload basis, during off-peak hours, or through self-generation.

Cabin and cargo capacity
The cabin is no longer the Jumper's obvious weak point, although it still prioritizes work over refinement. There are three seats, plenty of storage compartments, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, and a 7-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.
The double bench seat allows for two passengers, but the middle seat retains the usual limitations of a large van. For those who spend hours behind the wheel, the suspended seat, heating, lumbar support, and individual comfort seats are more worthwhile investments than a decorative rim. The Eat & Work table, the 230V socket and the overhead compartments make the booth an acceptable office for delivery notes, laptops and breaks.

An L3H2 is the most logical for companies that need volume but not extreme height; the L3H3 adds two long meters of interior height without lengthening the maneuver; the L4H3 takes the usable length to 4.070 mm and the volume to 17 m³. In the last two, the 4,25-ton version is almost mandatory when the load is not particularly light.

Charge density matters as much as volume
With 710 kg available, a 3,5-ton L3H2 can fill its 13 m³ if it carries light boxes, but not if it carries drinks, ceramics, machinery or dense spare parts. The maximum average load is just 55 kg per cubic meter before adding driver, passengers, lining or shelving.
The 3,5-ton L4H3 is even more critical: 635 kg spread over 17 m³ is equivalent to about 37 kg/m³. It's a configuration for air freight - light parcels, textiles, event materials - not for filling the entire box with weight.

At 4,25 tons, the L3H3 allows for approximately 96 kg/m³ and the L4H3 approximately 81 kg/m³. Weighing the finished unit is still necessary, but the margin is now suitable for a much wider range of professional use. Any refrigerator, lifting platform, second door, lining, flooring, shelving or roof rack must be deducted from the payload before calculating the goods.

The theoretical average load divides payload by volume and only serves to visualize the problem. It does not replace axle load distribution, stowage, occupant mass, or the technical specifications of the finished unit.
Equipment
Citroën has greatly improved the starting point of the electric version. The ë-Jumper comes standard with more equipment than a basic combustion engine Jumper: digital instrument panel, touch screen, automatic climate control, electric brake, 22 kW three-phase charger, 7-meter cable and rear parking assistance.
Even so, a large van is not configured well by adding the most expensive package, but by addressing specific risks. Visibility, seating, cargo lighting, tool feed, doors, suspension, and bodywork preparation have more impact on productivity than exterior appearance.

In a large electric van, the service surrounding the vehicle weighs as much as the battery. The immobilization of a vehicle, the lack of an operational charger, or a repair that does not take high voltage into account can cost more than several monthly installments.

Total cost: Cheap energy doesn't compensate for a bad mission
The ë-Jumper can reduce energy, maintenance and brake wear when charging at base and working on stable routes. But the savings disappear if you depend on expensive fast charging every day, if you need a second van to cover peak times, or if the 3,5-ton version forces you to multiply trips due to lack of payload.
The correct calculation must include net price after subsidies, financing, wallbox, contracted power, energy, maintenance, tires, insurance, taxation, charging time, residual value and immobilization cost. The comparison is not ë-Jumper versus diesel in the abstract, but a concrete route over four or five years.
Alternatives
The market for large electric vans is no longer divided between one viable option and several unrealistic promises. Ford, Renault, and Mercedes have increased range and charging capabilities; IVECO retains a heavy-duty architecture; and the three Stellantis models almost completely replicate the technology of the ë-Jumper. The choice should be made based on approved configuration, service, payload and total cost, not on the maximum advertised value of each family.
The Peugeot E-Boxer, Fiat E-Ducato and Opel Movano Electric are the closest alternatives: they share a base, a 110 kWh battery, a 200 kW motor, up to 17 m³ and the same mass logic. Among them, the specific offer is key: included equipment, availability, local network, maintenance contract, bodywork and residual value.
Outside of Stellantis, the Ford E-Transit stands out for its Ford Pro ecosystem and an extended battery that boasts a range of up to 402 km and 180 kW charging; the Renault Master E-Tech offers a newer body, a range of up to 460 km and improved aerodynamics; the Mercedes eSprinter opts for three batteries and a more refined environment; and IVECO eDaily opens the field towards GVWR of up to 7,2 tons and severe uses. The ë-Jumper responds with more power than many, 22 kW AC as standard, 17 m³ and a very favorable ratio between volume and length.

Electric medium-sized vans -ë-Jumpy, E-Expert, E-Transit Custom, eVito, Trafic E-Tech or Transporter electric- are not included as direct rivals. They may be faster, more efficient and manageable, but they belong to another category in terms of volume, height and transformation.
Nor should a diesel Jumper be automatically ruled out. For long routes without a base, high sustained speeds, frequent towing, or areas with weak infrastructure, diesel still offers greater flexibility and between 925 and 1.440 kg of payload in current 3,5-ton Spanish vans. The ë-Jumper wins when the route is repeatable, energy is purchased well, and the ZERO label provides access or contracts that diesel cannot guarantee.
Verdict
The Citroën ë-Jumper has gone from being an electric adaptation for short routes to becoming a large van with true regional capacity. Its 270 hp, 400 Nm, 110 kWh and up to 409 km homologated in the Spanish range allow working with a margin that the previous generation did not have.
The cargo box remains one of its best arguments: 13-17 m³, up to 4,07 meters of floor, 1,87 meters of width and a front-wheel drive architecture that takes advantage of every centimeter. Electrification doesn't take up much space, and the standard 22 kW charger turns an overnight stay into a full recharge.
The problem lies in the weight. The 3.500 kg versions weigh 635-710 kg without a driver, figures that are far too low for a van of this size unless it's transporting light goods. The ë-Jumper that best represents the product's promise is the 4,25-tonne version: it maintains the volume, offers 1.385-1.435 kg and, thanks to the 90 km/h speed limit, has a homologated range of 406-409 km.
This necessitates analyzing permits, routes, towing, and international traffic. It also requires a robust infrastructure: 22 kW base power, energy management, and a plan for days when the route is longer. Relying regularly on 150 kW of public electricity and a 55-minute downtime weakens both cost and productivity.
Citroën has improved the equipment, but a camera, 360º vision, digital mirror, suspended seat, and Max Pack are practically mandatory in the larger models. The base version can move 17 m³, but it doesn't necessarily allow you to see, load, or manage it with the ease required for a long day. In a vehicle like this, configuring it well is worth more than a thousand euro discount.
For parcel delivery, urban and regional services, mobile workshops, silent delivery, or contracts with environmental requirements, the ë-Jumper is a powerful and consistent tool. For intensive highway driving, heavy loads at 3,5 tonnes of work without recharging, a diesel vehicle or a competitor with a different architecture makes more sense. The ë-Jumper shouldn't be bought because it's electric, but because its route, mass, and energy demonstrate that it can generate better revenue.
Highlight
- Up to 4,07 meters of usable space. The load length reaches 3.705 mm in L3 and 4.070 mm in L4. With an interior width of 1.870 mm and 1.422 mm between wheel arches, the box accommodates up to five Euro pallets in the larger body sizes.
- 270 hp and 400 Nm. The response is immediate and much more powerful than in the previous ë-Jumper. Even fully loaded, it starts smoothly, enters roundabouts without hesitation, and reduces the driver's effort on inclines or when merging.
- The payload capacity is 4,25 tons. The L3H3 and L4H3, with a payload of 4.250 kg, offer 1.435 kg and 1.385 kg respectively without a driver. These configurations best combine a large battery, volume, and work capacity.
To improve
- The 424-430 km figure requires context. The Spanish homologated range is 356-409 km. The higher figure depends on a 4,25 t version limited to 90 km/h and does not represent all vans.
- Range is sensitive to speed and climate control. The frontal area, mass, and air volume negatively impact performance at 120 km/h. Cold, heating, rain, wind, inclines, and load can significantly alter the real-world WLTP figures.
- Not all combustion engine options are available for the electric version. Packages, seats, doors, and modifications vary depending on the body style and production phase. The order form should be checked line by line, not by the package name.
