New 2.2 150 hp turbodiesel engine
The Opel Vivaro Chassis Cab is designed for those who need to transport tools, light machinery, materials, or bulky loads on an open platform. That's why Opel is targeting it especially at municipal depots, landscaping companies, and professionals who need to easily load and unload large items. Its cargo platform, accessible from three sides, is one of its main advantages over a conventional closed van. This configuration makes working with heavy or unwieldy materials easier and allows for more convenient operation in environments where side or rear access is crucial.
The main novelty is under the hood. The Vivaro Chassis-Cab debuts a 2,2-liter turbodiesel engine with 110 kW (150 hp) and 370 Nm of maximum torque . According to Opel, this engine combines efficiency and fuel economy with greater responsiveness when the vehicle is fully loaded. The torque figure is especially important in a vehicle of this type: the 370 Nm allows for more confident acceleration even with a fully loaded cargo area, essential for construction, maintenance, or material transport work. This engine is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox , a simple and robust configuration, perfectly aligned with the professional focus of this version.

Although the main novelty is the arrival of the 2,2-liter diesel engine, Opel reminds us that the Vivaro Cab is also available in an electric version. The Vivaro Electric Cab is equipped with a 100 kW (136 hp) motor and 270 Nm of torque , with two battery options: 42 kWh or 69 kWh , both with usable capacity. In this way, Opel maintains a multi-energy offering for this variant. The diesel will continue to make sense for professionals who cover many kilometers, work with frequent charging, or lack convenient charging infrastructure. The electric version, on the other hand, is better suited to urban or suburban use, especially for companies that need access to low-emission zones or want to reduce running costs on predictable daily journeys.

With this new engine, Opel reinforces the Vivaro Chassis Cab's role as a highly specialized work vehicle. Its focus isn't on offering maximum enclosed cargo space, but rather on facilitating tasks where an open, accessible, and adaptable platform is essential. The new 150 hp diesel engine provides greater responsiveness for working with a load, while the electric version remains an option for those seeking a zero-emissions solution. Two different approaches to the same idea: transforming the Vivaro into a practical base for professionals who need a flexible and ready-to-use tool for everyday work.
